Feada Coille, Shieldaig

Feada Coille is a dreamy ‘cabin in the woods’. This beautiful retreat house is perched in the most Westerly part of Scotland’s ancient Caledonian forest in the national scenic area of Wester Ross. Tucked among the tree tops, you can enjoy complete privacy and spectacular views across the Torridon mountain range.

This is a place of deep serenity where the air is rich with the scent of pine resin. You’ll wake to the sound of birdsong and spend the day keeping company with the pine marten, red squirrel and capercaillie. Looking out from the house, you’ll see Shieldaig Island, owned by the National Trust for Scotland where sea eagles have nested in recent years.

The house is designed to offer you an experience of wild rest and natural renewal. It is generously fitted out with beautiful soft furnishings, high quality sheets, en suite bedrooms and a well-equipped kitchen. There is a library of books exploring the relationships between humans and trees, as well as local maps, walking guides, blankets, hot water bottles and a woodburner both inside and out.

You may find it hard to leave the cabin, but when you do, you’ll be spoiled for wonderful places to visit. A short walk around the loch takes you to Shieldaig village with a cafe, pub and restaurant as well as water-sports facilities during the summer months. In a car, it’s just a short drive to the Torridon mountains, Applecross Beach or the world famous Beinn Eighe Natural Nature Reserve.
